Login using the author ID and password your editor provided in your Welcome New Authors email. This ID has sufficient system privileges to allow you to post images and content. It also assures that both your authorship and fund raising information will be correctly applied to the content you post. Use the standard login block at the upper right of the DeepTravelers front page.

Use the Create Content Link to Show Post Type Choices

The Create Content link appears under your Author Id after you login. Clicking this link will take you to a page that displays the types of content you are allowed to post.

Choose Your Content Type

Click on the link to the type of content you want to post to open an editing page. (Links are displayed in blue text.)

Enter the Title of Your Post

Enter a title for your post. This field is required, so you can't skip it. It is displayed at the page top in large bold type. Shorter is usually better.

Using the Page Title to Improve Search Visibility

The Page title is used by search engines to identify the content of a page. You may want to use a descriptive title with 2 to 5 keywords that categorize your content. Using the page title field effectively can increase the visibility of your content, which adds momentum to your fund raising and improves your standings as a travel author.

Choose Keyword Tags

Choose as many keywords as apply to your content. These keywords help DeepTravelers members and visitors find your content and help raise your search engine visibility. To select multiple keywords, hold down the control key while clicking on list items.

Choose Author Tag

Choose your name from the Author list.

Upload an Image

Use the browse button to find the image on your computer to upload. This tool does all the scaling, cropping and thumbnail image creation for you, so you don't need to do a lot of image preprocessing steps. However, if you try to upload very large image files this process may choke. For best results, upload images of less than 1 megabyte. If you have trouble uploading, use your image processing tools to reduce file size and try again. If this doesn't solve the problem, email postmaster@deeptravelers.org.

Preview and Post Your Content

The body of your content goes in this box. To avoid getting zapped by network glitches, it is best to compose your article in a text editor and paste the content into this box. You can preview you compositions before going live with a post by using the Preview button at the bottom of the page. <i>You must use the submit button to actually post the content. If you preview and then exit, your work won't be saved. You can edit update and delete your own content using tabs that appear at the top of your post pages.
